The Center for Economic Situation Administration of Thailand (CESA) decided on March 26, 2021 to launch a Phuket “tourism sandbox” program for vaccinated tourists from July 1, based on the recommendation of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).

Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn said tourists who can verify that they have been vaccinated against Covid-19 and tested negative can fly to Phuket and move freely without quarantine.

Once more people are vaccinated and preventive measures are strictly adhered to, plans like Phuket's will then apply to Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Krabi, Panya and Surat Thani.

The government also plans to completely lift quarantine measures on entry of foreigners from October 1, when a large number of Thais should have been vaccinated.
